CAN WE TALK?

Would you be surprised to know that my student lodger has done a flit? He left a note saying he has house dust allergy and I hve too many old carpets, didin't he? I feel about 2 foot high don't I? But am I dancing on the roof? Yayayayay!

Am I glad for you that your lodger has left? Will you find a new one or take your trip without one there?

If it were possible, I'd do without, wouldn't I? But I think I'll get another one, that would be sensible, wouldn't it? If he/she comes when I'm away, I won't mind, will I? Did you know I'm partner in a School of English so there is no shortage of foreign students?

Did I mention that I'm leaving on Wednesday evening? And that I fly to Bangkok and thence go overland somehow to Cambodia? But it seems to be a 14 hour journey, doesn't it, overland? Am I up to it? Can I stand it?

You seem to be a well-seasoned traveller, no?Don't you think you must stand it? Do you remember your travel to-do's?

Do you know I haven't traveled in a little while but do I remember some?.... lcommon sense stuff like don't sleep right away when you get there, and don't have alcohol on the flight (well, at least that's what THEY say.) I would imagine you know more what to do than not?

I should, shouldn't I? But I usually find I just do what I do and live through it, don't I? This time I was planning to take a tranq so that I sleep through the 12 hour flight, do you think that's a good idea? Since I'm going on a little-known airline known for bad food, unfriendly service and little entertainment?

Do I think that a good idea? I do! Would I not do the same? Have I not ever been to Asia only in my imagination? But do you know I hope the best for you on your trip?

I brought melatonin pills for my last really long flight and didn't take them, I was chicken hearted, wasn't I? I am horrible at sleeping on flights, aren't I, aren't I too keyed up? Clary, don't do what you don't want to do... will you?

What do you mean, you are travelling overland somehow?

Have you read what I have written under my msgs about risk? I haven't got anything written down in black white or dingy green (like the old carpets we inherited when we bought the house ) have I? Yesterday I was lent the Lonely Planet to Cambodia, so that should be a good read when I get round to it, shouldn't it? And today I sent an email to a chap I met in Thailand 2 years ago saying shouldn't we go together and by boat to Sihanoukville because someone said it was the best way, was I right to do that? If I wasn't so busy NOT writing bits of the HK Guidebook today I would start a new Asian thread, wouldn't I?

Do you know that I think you would, Clary? And, ehBeth, did you know that I find the old carpets just as humorous? Who would've thunk that the old carpets would be a nemesis to Clary's semi-unwanted boarder?

Hasn't devriesj put the finger of appositeness on my old carpets!? Should I keep the old carpets just to laugh at? And didn't this unwanted boarder leave a trail of bits of German sausage and unwashed cups after him, as well as a burnt saucepan? Should I ask for a nother lodger? Should I make sure it's not a German? Or just that it isn't a 23 year old?

Do you like the carpets? Do you want to keep them? Do you screen your boarders? Do you think you should ask: Are you allergic to dusty carpets?

Should I be honest and say I've always disliked the fitted dingy green carpets, but that I fear he took exception to the dark red and blue Afghan carpets I brought back in a carpet bag from Pakistan? And may I add that I don't think 20 years is old for a carpet of that sort? Haven't I just been enquiring about future boarders and didn't my heart sink slightly when I heard there might be a Swiss lady? Might she not dislike old carpets too?
