Trying to find the name of a great Italian Movie I saw many years ago.
Don't know the actors, or year or title of film.

But the story is centred around an italian family who run a cafe and live upstairs. The central character or the whole story really is seen and told thru the eyes of the little boy of the family. his dying grandfather is living upstairs and his dad runs an illegal betting ring upstairs too.

what i remember the most is this amazing coffee machine in the coffee shop, central and integral to the film

any ideas???

yes it is, thanks pamela - but does the plot also include a illegal betting ring where the young boy sets up a delayed radio broadcast of the races to win everytime??

I can't answer - I'm the odd a2k person who has watched many more italian from italy movies than movies from britain - though I've watched a bunch of those too.

With luck, someone who knows more than I do will respond.

I think I remember a review or two of this, but never saw it.

I have read up on it, never seen it, and it sounds awesome. Does anyone have a link for DVD copies available for sale? Amazon and ebay don't seem to have it.

Queen of Hearts, 1990, directed by Jon Amiel. It's available (VHS only) on Amazon and probably other venues as well.
