My school has let me do a philosophy course at my city's university next year! It's still in the drafting stages, but it's definitely going to happen. I'm so excited!!

@aperson,
Philosophy is one course that requires the re-reading of the text for it to sink it. Don't be discouraged, because the first reading will seem like another language completely! I ended up taking philosophy as my minor, and have not regretted that choice.

@aperson,
I also minored in philosophy. Now, before you even ask, why would I have done that if I hadn't found it not only fascinating but addictive.

Btw, when c.i. and I attended our separate universities, of course, philosophers like Plato and Aristotle were still alive and well and walking the earth. Smile

Hmmmm.

I'm not exactly sure how it's going to work (heck, I don't even know how university works), but I think that the two courses that would fit into my timetable are Logic and Computability, and Truth and Reason. I think I will go for the latter.

Have either of you found that Philosophy is useful for any career? While I am doing this purely for mental stimulation, it would be interesting to know if it can be of any use.

@aperson,
It is, in my experience, helpful for just about any career...in that it teaches you disciplined and reasoned analysis.

Go forth and enjoy.

@dlowan,
I agree with dlowan; it will help with any career field. I'm pretty positive it helped me advance quickly in my career into management, and the many decisions I had to make during my career. It also helps to be creative (think beyond the box).

@cicerone imposter,
BTW, I only walked with Socrates. The others lived too far in the city.
