Ack....

Yes the tree makes sound!

The nature of sound does not require observation, only a fluid medium.

I enjoy your stuff when you talk hunting,
its just that your obsession with guns is almost clinical.

Its a fact that some people are aware of categories of endeavor
wherein thay have no interest; e.g., in my case, I don 't care much
about collecting stamps, tho I had an uncle who was very interested it it.

Thay also have areas of concern wherein thay manifest greater interest,
and yet other concepts or practices in whose consideration
thay delight in spending as much time and discussion as possible:
perhaps the re-conditioning and restoration of old American cars,
or S.C.U.B.A. diving in clear water, or baking French pastry, or in
the dissemination of information supporting a filosofical vu point.

In satisfaction of the concept that we each owe it to ourself
to cram as much joy, beauty n contentment into our respective lives
as possible, it behooves each of us to follow his dream or his obsession
by spending as much time as possible in pursuit of his favored endeavor.
Others who do not join him in his interests, can do otherwise,
according to their individual preferences.

Having an area of consummate fascination,
or of obsession, is not opproprious, nor shoud it become the
occasion to malign one 's fellow citizen of a given forum.

". . . extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice, and
moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue

@OmSigDAVID,
Your taking advice from Barry Goldwater?

Well, yeah, his legacy.

I used to work for him.

@farmerman,
If one takes the advice of Goldwater, then one cannot support McCain. Goldwater described McCain as a carpet bagger, and refused to support him.

What effemm means is that I have a history, hardly long in geological terms, of posting stuff he has no answer to and doesn't wish to hear because it undermines his ideas for the education of America's youth and his ego defenses in general. Such things are automatically irrelevant to him. If everybody was like effemm we would still be swinging in the trees.

And as regards puffing up the self I am an amateur compared to him. He never writes a word without that objective and I can only assume he is unaware of it.

I would be happy to have his and my posts compared by a jury of honest men and women on the matter of puffing up the self. Anytime.

If effemm has not got you on Ignore it means he approves of you and that you cannot challenge his self-esteem, which is inflated like a pair of bloomers on a washing line in a gale. Rather you than me folks.

The post quoted above is not only badly written--he says I need putting on Ignore--which is news to me--but is meaningless as it is a patchwork of unsupported assertions. He cannot think in any other way.

@spendius,
There is no question in my mind that recourse to the Ignore function constitutes a withdrawal from the world of some sort. Such withdrawals, shrinkings, are expressive of anxieties. Even the "putting out" and retraction of the pseudopodia of the ameoba show these affects. Freud made that connection first I believe.

The suggestion that my looong irrelevancies and my alleged puffing up of myself, both common things on A2K but quite pronounced in effemm's posts, is ludicrous in view of the raft of posts we all have to ignore and they are nothing but an lame excuse. His making a special point of Ignore for me proves the case.

All my posts derive from my reading and it is reasonable to assume that those sources would similarly cause him to turn away from them.

It is not me. It is the ideas I present for the consideration of A2K members. They are in the world for all to see who wish to. Most of them in your local libraries and all of them in the British Library and I assume your Library of Congress both of which contain ideas which are on the Vatican's Index.

I think his anxiety stems from the fear of finding out that the promotion of Evolution Theory in schools and in classes which contain not one single future biologist might not be a good idea if its potential consequences, intended and unintended, are fully understood. Finding out that is dangerous to his self-esteem because he has gone into bat for the promotion of Evolution Theory bigtime and backing down is not on his agenda. It would mean that he is not as educated as he had previously thought.

@Setanta,
I ignored McCAin on Nov 4.

Dave used to work for Goldwater (Barry I assume). Why am I not surprised?
