@farmerman,
I am quite ignorant of internal combustion engines
and modern vehicular propulsion systems,
but last summer, I overheard someone who I deem
to have a respectable mind (and much more life experience
with the mechanics of cars than I do) tell some folks that he gets
40% savings on gasoline by having installed a device
on his pick-up truck that separates hydrogen from oxygen,
running an electric current thru water, then supplements
consumption of gasoline with combustion of the freed-up hydrogen.
I have
no idea of the ratio between the energy used in
accomplishing the separation of hydrogen from oxygen,
and the yield of energy which can then be harvested to boost
a car 's propulsion, together with consumption of gasoline.
I expect to see him again next February and inquire about it then.
I was wondering whether anyone else had success with this.
