Hi to all lovatts fans!
I wondered if anyone could help with the answer to clue 116d. 'prophet of doom'. I wondered if it might be more then one word, but have not come across this clue before. So far I have S_A_E _O_G_R (11 letters).
S - 115a. Composition--------------(esSay)
A - 131a. Walking stick--------------(cAne)
E - 145a. Songbird ..... wren--------(jEnny)
O - 152a. Thirteen, bakers--------- (dOzen)
G - 171a. Musical innovator,

I don't have any idea what Lovatts is or any of this means, but I did wake up earlier this week with this stupid thread title right in the foreground of my thoughts. I literally walked around the house looking for a book or other item with these words on it. Freak!

My copy of the Stinker tells me the answer is SCAREMONGER.
The young lady called Izzie is very clever to have worked it out without the magazine.

Thanks very much Izzie. I don't know how you got the answer without the magazine, butI am very grateful you stopped by. I see Dutchy has explained about Lovatts. They have a whole series of puzzle magazines. Occasionly I need help with a clue, and you have helped no end. Thankyou.

I had a feeling you might know the answer, you usually do. This was the last clue, and as you know the clues often repeat, but I don't remember ever seeing this one before.
That Izzie is rather clever, especially as you say she worked it out without the magazine.
