The leaders of Britain, Germany and France have met in a bid to mend relations that were damaged by the war in Iraq.
While the three nations agreed at a summit in Berlin that the United Nations should play a greater role in rebuilding Iraq, they disgareed on a timetable.
Nevertheless, the British prime minister, Tony Blair, told reporters that he was confident they could resolve their differences.
France and Germany were critical of Britain's support for the United States-led invasion of Iraq last March.
