I loved the 1990 Irish/UK film The Field with Richard Harris, John Hurt, Sean Bean, and erm, Tom Berenger as The Yank (who thankfully does not have enough scenes to ruin this otherwise fantastic movie, and he gets his head bashed in so there). I have not seen The Quiet Man with John Wayne, but I hear the plotlines are similar, except that in the Wayne film, the Yank wins. I'm looking to hear from those who have seen both, and what opinions you have.
You know it's funny Cav, my mom swears the story (the field) was based on her fathers life. But I imagine that type of misery was fairly common. I haven't seen the Wayne film so I can't give an opinion.

Except for remember Richard Harris' Oscar nominated performance, I have really totally forgotten about "The Field." I suppose I should give both films a chance sometime soon.
I haven't seen both but surely Sean Bean is a great versatile actor in the movie industry these days. Seen him in Outlaw trailer with that i can't wait seeing the movie.
