Yeah, I'm not either.

At any rate, I like "keep up the good fight!" That seems to fit.

If her family has any more specific ideas, let us know.

How awful. Please, my condolences to her family.

Good night, sweet princess.

When my grandfather passed away in 1973, this was read at his funeral:

Quote:
And Death Shall Have No Dominion
Dylan Thomas

And death shall have no dominion.
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon;
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone,
They shall have stars at elbow and foot;
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.

And death shall have no dominion.
Under the windings of the sea
They lying long shall not die windily;
Twisting on racks when sinews give way,
Strapped to a wheel, yet they shall not break;
Faith in their hands shall snap in two,
And the unicorn evils run them through;
Split all ends up they shan't crack;
And death shall have no dominion.

And death shall have no dominion.
No more may gulls cry at their ears
Or waves break loud on the seashores;
Where blew a flower may a flower no more
Lift its head to the blows of the rain;
Though they be mad and dead as nails,
Heads of the characters hammer through daisies;
Break in the sun till the sun breaks down,
And death shall have no dominion.

Boy, there's a thump in the tear gear! That Dylan Thomas gem has long been a personal favorite, a nicely framed, tastefully understated calligraphic reproduction of which hangs in my bedroom, and has since college days. Very apt, Jes. Very appropriate.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I first bumped into mamaj years ago on abuzz. Tough, empathetic, sharp, dedicated - always. This is very sad news.

"Now in Vienna there's ten pretty women
There's a shoulder where Death comes to cry
There's a lobby with nine hundred windows
There's a tree where the doves go to die
There's a piece that was torn from the morning
And it hangs in the Gallery of Frost
Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay
Take this waltz, take this waltz
Take this waltz with the clamp on its jaws"

for mamaj

You guys are terrific. I'll wait a couple of days -- maybe over the weekend, and then send your posts to her family. Thank you one and all -- friends in need, indeed.

Sozobe -- Do you know how to change the title?

You can do it yourself, Tartarin. Just click the "edit" button on the first post, and then a box will open that allows you to change the title.

That is sad news. Though we never communicated via PMs or otherwise, I felt I knew her. Always a grat communicator and passionate about her values. And never, as far as I recall, mentioning how ill she must have been. Noble, she was, and I will miss her.

I am saddened, many times especially on abuzz we shared ideas and a laugh or two. She will be remembered fondly.
Goodbye and godbless.

I'm so saddened by MamaJ's death. She was one of the brightest and most precious jewels in A2K's crown. Our love and remembrances to her family.

Got tired of waitin' ... took it on myself to change the thread title. I changed it to Announcement category too. Anybody has a problem with any of that, take it up with me.

And thanks for the switch to Announcements, Timber. Should we also continue to post a word or two in "Politics" for those who (like me) don't always check General and Announcements?

Yer weccum, Tartarin. Entirely. I wouldn't think a mention of and link to this topic on a few other threads as would be appropriate would be spam or otherwise inappropriate. I think it'd be a good idea to nudge discussion of this sad event to this thread, though ... otherwise, a lot of splittin' and movin' is gonna be called for, I would suspect. We gotta try to "Keep it together" ... in every respect.

I am so sorry to hear about Mama's death. A force of nature, indeed - such a fighter for her beliefs and values. She must have been a wonder to know in the real world.
