FFS, the rebels haven't even formed a government yet. It's not the time to condemn the forces that defeated Assad. Given the dynamics of the Middle East I'm sure the West will have plenty of opportunities to deplore the policies of any new government but they have to wait until there is one!
That is going to be the great risk that now the new Syria is going to face: whether the power is going to be shared, whether the new government is going to be inclusive, whether all segments of society and the political sphere in the country are going to have a place around the table.

@hightor,
You continue to be dishonest in this conversation.

I said nothing Assad has done is worse than the on-going genocide and previous similar crimes of the US & their bloodthirsty Toad.

I’m quite comfortable in that statement and you’re uncharacteristically shrill in your repeated dishonest attempts to argue.

And I said that such appraisals are meaningless. Why is that "dishonest"? I never said that the crimes of one side were "worse" than those of the other. The IDF's terror campaign in Gaza doesn't lessen the crimes of the fifty year reign of the Assad family in Syria. Why are you playing favorites between mass killers? Why do you discount the death and suffering of the 600,000 plus victims of the Syrian Civil War?

Random guy’s post on X.

I’ve been speaking to people that have fled Syria and they are describing horrific scenes in Homs. Terror groups hunting down former soldiers and members of the Shia community, slitting throats and even beheading people, all of which is being sanitised or ignored by Western media organisations and others who are accused of acting as a PR arm for HTS.

It's a "British journalist" working as a correspondent for RT based in Moscow.

I don’t need to know who it is writing because I know who he’s talking about: head-chopping Al-Quaida terrorists with a new name and US money. I know exactly what they’re doing—and so do you. But no worries. I don’t ever expect honesty from you. I think I’d find it disorienting.

You write as if you've been there! Why should we care? Netanyahu's worse, right? (No "u" in al-Qaeda, btw)

@hightor,
That spelling changed as many times as Qaddafi. I’ll stick with this one.

You need to change your strategy of you’re trying to act like you don’t care what I post. Ignore would be much more believable.

Yes, but when transliterating Arabic, the "u" is not used – it's a hard "k" sound not a "kw". At least you didn't spell it Quaddafi!

That's a strange take. I don't think I ever said that I didn't care what you posted. On the contrary, I find your posts useful because it's good to know what kind of misinformation is going around – and with you on this site providing a steady stream of propaganda, sourced and unsourced, I get a window into the political looniesphere without having to search out rabbit holes of disinformation and agitprop.

The fact is, you often jump to conclusions which aren't borne out by the lies you promulgate and I enjoy pointing that out. Your sources are often questionable, and you like to post out of context statements. I notice you repeatedly accuse me of "lying" when, in fact, I'm simply rejecting your opinion and exposing the weaknesses of your position. You also have a tendency to make mistaken assumptions about what you think I believe and I like to draw attention to those errors as well. Your simplistic binary worldview is more entertaining than insightful and provides the site some degree of amusement. We're lucky to have you.
