I've met quite a few. But one tops them all.
Mohammed Ali
Continue...
I have actually met Ali quite a few times. He is friends with my sister and whenever he stops in Phoenix he will visit her. I've been there a half dozen times when Ali stopped over. Nice guy. Loves kids.
Larry King, on the other hand, who also stays at my sister's house occasionally, is a bona fide prick. I almost threw the smug bastard down the steps the last time I encountered him.
The only reason I didn't was because of his frailty.
Truth? Who is your sister?
My FIL idolized Larry King though he despised his politics. We have a picture of them finally meeting.
Truth. I can not disclose my sister's name because I would then be revealing my name.
may i at least post a picture of her?
I suppose. Just don't release her name.
She's not hot, by the way, at least not in my book, but she has a very engaging personality.
But.... she does look better than that.
Hey, I think I know your sis.
You're officially invited to come hang out at the Maya compound the next time you pass through.
We can listen to CCR, and drink Green Label.
Shooter, I have met Mr. Ali twice.
I came away with a deep feeling of compassion for him.
I got the sense of a very proud and caring man trapped in a body that no longer works at all.
I met Ali twice also, late 1970's. I think at the time the disease was just beginning to get ahold of him. The first meeting, he was out of it, giant, limp clammy mug shook my hand, his eyes glazed over.
Second time, he played a trick on me I'll never forget. Lightning fast, he could make a noise with his hands that sounded like a bird going by your ear, then you'd turn around, and there was nothing there. His arms were so long he could hide far from you and play this game. Unreal.
I shared a cab once with Flip Wilson. That was a riot. He made my cousin and I sit up front while he jumped in back with the golf clubs (celebrity tournament courtesy station wagon). Too funny.
I took a picture of my BIL with Dick Clark (before he has his stroke). A true gentleman.
When I was little I played in a Florida pool with a couple kids that got horribly sunburned. Turned out they belonged to Ed McMahon.
I know Sarah Evans. Our kids played baseball together. Her new hubby was my kids baseball coach.
I have chatted with both Wolfgang Puck and Paul Prudhomme, but hospitality is their job, so it doesn't really count.
