I caught the old Western 'Dakota Lil' on tv last night. Does anyone remember Marie Windsor? When I was growing up she seemed to be in so many movies and tv shows and I could never work out why. She did not seem (in my view at least) to be beautiful or overly talented - I thought she was as stiff as a board and that her face was as hard as nails.

I looked her up on IMDB today and was astounded at the body of work she had done in her career.

Was it me, just not seeing what there was about her that made her so special, or do others agree with me?

I would love to hear your comments.

lezzlies- Sure, I remember her. The thing is, was that she was in a lot of "stuff", but nothing very important. She was the consummate "B" film actress....................never became famous, but usually had work.

For those who are too young to remember, the movies used to show "double features". There was the "A" movie, which was usually big budget, and contained at least one actor with major star power. The second was a low budget, "B" movie, made on a shoestrng, and having lesser actors.

@Phoenix32890,
The question of Marie Windsor piqued my curiosity. I went to Blockbuster Online, where I have a subscription. I discovered that one of her films, "The Narrow margin", is consider one of the best, if not the best "B" film ever made.

So it's coming in the mail, and I will probably be watching it tonight.

@Phoenix32890,
Marie Windsor with the big eyes and always too much mascara?
She did more TV than film and her film career was represented by nearly half as just an extra, uncredited.

I haven't read yet if URL and Images can be posted sometime in the future.

A picture does help. When you see her you know you have seen her in the movies but you might not remember which one. The most popular movie she was in was "Support Your Local Gunfighter". I think the character was "Goldie".
