cypher I dont think you can blame NBC for the camera work. It is my understanding that all the rights holders take the same feed from the Olympic broadcaster.

Oh, I wondered how that worked...interesting. I'd be interested in finding out who decides on what camera angles to use when and that kind of thing, though-- like who edits the camera feeds into what you see in the broadcast--because that's the person who was annoying the crap out of me Smile

The ceremony itself was just incredible, though. Really gorgeous imagery!

It clashed with the Test Match so I never saw any of it except bits on the news.

It certainly looked boring.

Sychronised mass PT with conspicuous consumption.

Bit like the Nuremberg gig. The smirking face of evil.

I thouroughly enjoyed the opening ceremonies, especially the man "running" thru the air to light the torch.

For up to date info, here is a good website to use...

http://www.nbcolympics.com/

The US Women swept the medals in the sabre matches, winning all 3 medals.

As of 08/09, 9pm Beijing Time the US has 3 medals and leads the medal count.
China and South Korea have 2 each.

The politics in USA is not congenial to those who are critical and decent.

We who are critical and decent need a break from the US political grind from time to time.

What I don't like about the Olympics is that big tits are at a disadvantage.

I would like to see some sporting discplines introduced where big tits won all the golds, silvers and bronzes.

I chose your post randomly
It's just that you are one of three persons in pretty short time to mention Nuremberg, so I guess it's worth mentioning that Olympic Games 1936 that you are all referring to were held in - Berlin.

okay, my mistake then, few people already mentioned "Nuremberg Olympics" so I guess I jumped into a conclusion too fast.

Yes--I was talking about the way a certain kind of expert in conjunction with a certain amount of resources can arrange ceremonies which radically alter the moods in the audience.

It is certain that the experts are seeking to alter those moods in the direction they approve of. If you laughed at it they would fail with you. If you liked it you've been shifted in proportion to your enthusiasm and if it got you swooning you'te a goner.

The decision to give the games to China represents the triumph of money over the blood which Oswald Spengler says will be the last battleground.

If you like sport you should watch the local stuff in your home town. If you don't then you're watching the Olympics for a non-sporting reason.

When we get the games in four year's time I'm hoping the opening ceremony will be a fancy dress ball with medals for originality of each team's mascot's costume.

That performance the other day contained not a shred of humour. It really, really matters--it really, really does.

Bollocks.

British females did badly at the archery.

There may be some connection there.

Kindly give me a rational clarification.
I was born in India not my choice nor my fate. I live in Germany by choice.
Now my question is this.
One guy from India who was trained in Germany got a gold medol while Germany has not yet.
Should I interpret that this is show bussiness?

no, more like 'it's only three days of competition'
good luck for India but in the end Germany will have 40-50 medals, 10-20 gold...and India will have 2-3 at most.

ps in Athens 2004 result was Germany 48 - India 1
