Didn't the crew in "The flight of the Phoenix" escape? I thought that was the name they gave to the plane they built out of the remains of their wrecked aircraft.
borricone, I'm probably wrong about this but I vaguely seem to remember a story like this on a prog like "the outer limits" or a similar type of t.v. show
I think you may be right, kev -- it's a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode. I missed the part about they were all dead when I scanned through.
I looked through Outer Limits episodes on Sci-Fi Channel and no description fits. Perhaps if borricone searches through Twilight Zone episodes which were an hour long, he might locate it.
It is coming back to me and it could be one of the hour long Twilight Zones but I was doing a quick search on the Sci-Fi Channel and nothing seemed to match. And I think it is a move in black-and-white.
I still seem to remember it as a movie but you know how those little grey cells sometimes don't come up with the right answers! If I could just remember one of the actors. It's the weekend too so not all the film buffs are online. Monday may bring the answer.
