Optimum RAM for Vista Home 32 bit

Hi

Could any one confirm something that I read recently that XP or Vista 32 bit OS will only utilise upto 3Gb RAM. I recently upgrade my Dell to 4Gb and wondered if I've wasted money??!! Confused
