@firefly,
Are you kidding?

How else are we going to bust out of saying the same names over and over and over and over and then again over, like robots, but by using parts of names. I've done this on this thread for many years, and will continue to do it if it amuses me. I've seen others do it too. Part of my interest in the thread is learning about different people.

We can ask Mame what she thinks, as she started the thread, but I'm guessing she'd still dealing with getting home from France.

Similar stuff (but not the same) happens on alphabet threads re getting past the letter x, part of why I avoid those.

@Dutchy,
I wasn't the whiner.

Besides, I'm making JoeNation's recipe for pizza dough, so, busy.
Also, Firefly and I like each other quite well (I think).

@ossobuco,
Soooo .... Not the same but similar. Does similar contrast with of relation or related? Like ...
Tony Blair and Gordon Brown ?
Or, Nicole Blare ?
... Or Tonya Austin ?

@Daisy Ryder,
I've tried to get out of the spasms of names that have been here probably hundreds of times by using some group of letters from one of the names. Me, I think that is legitimate. Others have done it before or after me, I don't know when it started, possibly early in the thread.

I like getting to know about people I find when I check google or wiki for some set of letters.

The commonly used names are fast, re the propulsion of the thread.

I'm outta here.

I'd rather have the repetition of names than people free-associating to names, or just taking a few letters from the name in the previous post, to come up with something novel. The game is losing all sense of organization when everyone starts doing their own thing rather than adhering to a format. All games have rules, or should have rules, but the wheels are coming off this one.

@firefly,
Then help us out here firefly. I'm trying to play by everyone else's rule.
YOU give us the low-down. How the heck is this game played?
I dig repetitive, I can dig related .... I can dig letters ... Why can't it just include all three? Aren't the rules pretty lenient to begin with?
Some one lay down the law and let's play.
I dig the game, don't want to lose it.
So, what's the verdict?

@Daisy Ryder,
Go back and read the first post in this thread. The rules haven't changed. It was never about "related" names.

If osso, or you, or anyone else, wants a different kind of game, start a new thread for that one. Everyone is free to come up with a different version and to start a name game.

@firefly,
Using part of a name hasn't been anathema over years. This is not new.

Is this your new rule, that you can't do that when I mention a pope? You're asking this of people who like word play?

@ossobuco,
Osso, I enjoy the game threads because they generally don't have conversation, or conflicts, people just play the game, and they follow whatever rules were initially set down. And that's held true on all the game threads I've participated in for many years.

And, if I get bored with a game, I just stop playing it.

Your're the only one complaining about this one, and derailing the game in the process. Either play by the rules, or start a different game. But this kind of thread is really not appropriate for chatter.

@firefly,
Think I'll join you, ff. This is no longer a game thread. It's been hijacked for the voicing of personal opinions and pet peeves. Later.
