Here's one that most of you will not know.
Tommy Kono
He was an olympic winner in weight lifting. The only reason I know of him is that during WWII, we lived in the same block 27 in concentration camp, and I watched him practice weight lifting in the communal ironing room.
He lived in Hawaii after the war, so when my wife and I visited Hawaii, I called to say hello, but he was not interested and hung up.
