Hubert Horatio Humphrey, jr. Former Vice President of the U.S. of A

I saw him back in the late 60's when he visited our Agency. We were all staring out our windows and I remember he looked remarkably healthy. The Marine Guards were all in front of Gate House One and an officer reviewing troops prior to HHH's visit gigged one poor soul for a buckle that didn't pass muster. The whole office groaned in sympathy for the young guy singled out.......Ouchie. Next posting was probably Lang Nuong Nam Bo.....also called just Nam Bo.

Humphrey Davy -Invented electrochemisty to separate calcium, potassium, boron, etc into elemental forms. Also named nitrous oxide "laughing gas". Also the figure my elementary school was named after-they've since changed the name to honor a local judge/politician.

Oddly, in the years I was there I never noticed his name was spelled Humphry and not Humphrey-of course, I graduated when I was 12.

Over here he's most known for his invention the Davy Lamp.
