And pianist.. he owned or co-owned a restaurant - with a good piano - in Venice, Caifornia, that I use to go to with pals. Not particularly expensive, but exceptional food. I even bought the cookbook, signed by the then chef. I was sorry when it closed, whenever that was. Probably in the 90's. it was a relaxing place, right by the beach. For any cookbook freaks here (like me, though most of mine are from used book stores, not all are) - the book is 72 Market Street by Roland Gibert. A collection of recipes and portraits..
