@glitterbag,
Funny: I was trying to think of Pat Boone, but it wouldn't come to me. That's what old age does; memory is the first casualty.

@cicerone imposter,
Jesse James (cowboy train robber and all round bad guy)

((Pat Boone was a singer who started on the late 50's as the anti-Elvis, he covered (badly) Little Richard, Fats Domino and robbed the music of energy. Then he did sappy semi-slow crap like 'Love Letters in the Sand, Moody River, April Love and others too sugary for me to list." He recorded 'Christian music' for a while and took all the life out of Gospel music. The last phase I'm aware of was his metal phase, and he did his version of 'Enter Sandman' (I think by Metallica, but I'm not big into Metal) and the way I found out was driving to North Carolina when suddenly Pat was crooning 'Stairway to Heaven'. I started to laugh and wanted to call people and tell them to tune in but I couldn't drive and dial..........plus I was listening to Satellite radio. I though I must be on a comedy channel, but not so..........the absolute best of his worst was 'Smoke on the Water'. Rock on out Pat.

PS, my Aunt is still alive and loves Pat Boone, so let's keep this our little secret, ok?

@glitterbag,
Tommy James

I remember Pat Boone as a youngster-had a TV show as I recall. In fairness to the guy, a large part of the white population was not prepared to hear rock and roll in its unvarnished form in the mid fifties-Boone had as many number one hits as Elvis for a couple of years.

Don't know if I can wrap my head around Pat Boone and Stairway to Heaven.
