A pear is to be equally divided amongst 5 kids. However, you can only make 3 cuts, how will you divide it amongst the kids?

cut the top fifth of the pear off. Make two cuts in the remaining section, dividing into 4 equal parts.

Lateral thinking (and alcohol) makes me think the cuts cut flesh, not fruit.

I'll tell you just one.

Two of the kids are conjoined twins, with two cuts (think throats) the group can be reduced to two children.

The remaining cut can divide the pear equally between them.

Knife washing is optional.

Actually I didn't know this one, that's why I had to use the conjoined twins workaround when there was a simpler answer.

Your riddle is in a famous nusery rhyme or something. The answer is a raven but can any animal. The idea is that it kills someone (or in this case 12 people) through poisoning. So it kills but doesn't actually do the action of killing.

Avoid lateral thinking ones. The best type to stump me on is an obscure mis of a language/math riddle with a low quality catch.

e.g.

What's the next number in the sequence:

15 19 3 25 19.....

The answer is 2.

And I can come up with 1000 of those riddles that nobody would be able to solve in one hour.

Thing is, an unsolveable riddle is easy to make. A good one is not necessarily unsolevable.

I like the good ones. It's not hard to stump me, but it is hard to stump me on a good one.

"A pear is to be equally divided amongst 5 kids."

Seems like you would need a large blender.
