I do not know if it's already being done anywhere, but the idea is facinating..
If the environment alters to such a degree that it is no longer habitable for the animals that live there, could technology be applied to compensate and allow the animals to survive?
Obviously artificial habitats likes zoos ensure optimal conditions for select animals, but as for an ecosystem? I'm not sure we would be able to account for every biological factor therefore wouldn't be able to optimize for the whole. Though cutting or burning sections of overgrown forest can cause healthier regrowth.
I must disagree on the zoos. They hand feed the animals so they lose their natural instincts. Also, they keep them in crowded pens rather than living in the open savanna. There's nothing worse than seeing a bear pacing back and forth because it has nothing to do.
I agree with NickFun on that. Zoo = animal prison
It would be cool to give deer night vision and bionic olfactory senses.
