That statement reflected back at religion would make many people uncomfortable.
There are many things that the religious neither recognize nor accept.

neo, It doesn't matter whether we recognize or accept anything as fact. There are some things in life we accept as fact such as a) with life comes death, b) taxation, c) inflation, d) religion, e) politics, f) crooks, g) murders, h) rapists, i) criminals, j) ...etc., etc., etc.
Our belief system has been influenced by our 1) parents, 2) peers, 3) teachers, 4) economy, 5) environment, 6) genes, 7) siblings, 8) ...etc., etc., etc.
The fact of the matter is, we all think our fact is better than anybody else's.

Emphasis mine
Or back at ones closely held beliefs. ... .
Facts are based upon statistics- as things change, statistics change, then facts change. What was once a fact may no longer be true... because statistics changed... these statistics changed because things often do change.
Things like, attitudes, feelings, perceptions, opinions, ideas, reason and the list goes on.
Since facts "change" they are not always the best rule for "truth"...
The truth never changes.
But truth is still a subjective value.

Truth is the object that we scrutinize.
Yes, we scrutinize, but we may all come to a different truth.
My wife is the most beautiful woman on this planet; that's the truth!
cicerone imposter wrote:Yes, we scrutinize, but we may all come to a different truth.
We all may see truth from a different angle.
So, if your back is turned to the speeding automobile, when does its approach become truth?
Looks more to me like an impending disaster.
cicerone imposter wrote:Precisely!
It is still the truth. No matter how you slice it.
Fractions of a whole.
Do we create or dream the truth or do we simply observe the truth?
Would the truth still exist if we neglected to acknowledge it?

Are you absolutely sure of that?

It is not circular; that's the reason why several witnesses to a crime can have different interpretations of what they saw. The crime itself is the fact, but the way different people observe it is subjective. There's an old saying, "don't believe 100% of what you hear, and only 50% of what you see." There's a lot of truism to that quote.
The "Fact" of being a Christian.... You believe every word in the Bible. You believe every word the priest says..... You have Faith in the Bible and faith in your Priest....You also go to a Church. You give money to your Church. You give praise to your God and pray for things in your Church... If and when you have children you make them do all of the above... So they end up just like you. And 80% of the population of the USA--- that's another fact ( I believe )
