I know that most people hate most popups, but here's one popup I would like to see. I seem to remember that the MS Works Calendar popped up to remind me of upcoming events. I didn't use the Calendar for some time, but would find it useful again, especially if it appeared automatically when I start my computer for the day.
Am I dreaming that it used to do this? Could having changed from W98 (on my machine) to Me on this one, and then to XP Home, have somehow killed this feature of the Calendar?
If it should be able to do this, how can I get it to work?
Doyou have MS Works installed?
And yes, in 98 there was a task scheduler or somesuch in the tray, XP usually doesn't have this.
You might be confusing something with a 98 feature.
Calendar doesn't pop up
I suspect it' has something to do with XP not accepting this feature,
and yes I do have Works installed. I use it for the Calendar and the Spreadsheet. I don't need anything as powerful or fancy as the whole Office Suite, but I find the Works Spreadsheet very handy for my type of record keeping.
I expect I must resign myself to remembering to check the Calendar instead of having the computer do it for me.
If you are talking about task scheduler like I think you are XP doesn't work well with it (for a good reason).
It can be pretty complicated to get it running again.
Calendar doesn't pop up
No, Craven, actually I'm talking about a daily/weekly/monthly engagement
calendar, not a Task Scheduler (unless you want to call a personal desk calendar a Task Scheduler, which of course, it is...)
Hmm, thing is I think the calendar you speak of tied into the task scheduler.
I really can't say. I do not have access to 98 or MS Works right now.
Calendar
And you know what? It really is of very little importance. Only, I'm apt to get a bit peeved when something I think
should work,
doesn't work. But maybe, in this instance it isn't
meant to work in the first place.
Anyway, I don't plan to lose any sleep over it.
Tomkitten, you can use Outlook.
Just open it and select Calendar and then set your appointments (date and time). When the appointed time arrives a window will pop up and remind you. You can choose to snooze it and it will reappear at the time you reset.
It is a good feature.
