30 days hath September,
April, June and November
All the rest have 31
Except February -- which has 28 --
And leap year coming once in four
February then has one day more.

Sorry, Soz, but you don't scan... I learned the poem thus:

30 days hath September,
April, June, and November.
When short February's done
All the rest have 31

I remember this variant:

30 days hath September,
April, June and November,
All the rest have 31,
All the rest except for one,
Take a look at February,
And remember how it varies,
28 is its days to climb,
But on leap years, 29

But I grew up on the knuckle system.

We're not looking for poetry here, folks... we're looking for a number and the answer to the $64,000 question is: 31! "nuff said.

I'm a knuckle man, myself. Only one hand, though.

Why did this thread have to end? I like when discussions like this get going and they continue in a lighthearted manner with no agendas nor personality quirks. Just good fun.

Latest news on May . This year the International Committee On Diurnal Duration has determined thatMay 31 2008 shall be 24.00001 hours long. (Enjoy the extra 0.00001 hour of sleep)

I love intelligent questions.

The other day someone called me on the office number.

I answered.

They asked if I was in.

Later that day I was talking to a resident about "Pancakes with Santa."

I said it will be the Saturday before Christmas.

They asked, "When is Christmas this year?"

I said, "The 25th. Strangely, it was on the 25th last year, too."

(I need another vacation.) Laughing

I'm working part time in retail just now and we got talking in the lunchroom about how with the price of gas we're getting more telephone inquiries. (Newsflash people! I'm not your personal shopper!) One of the guys in the sports dept got a call from a woman about some Nike T-shirts we'd advertised. She wanted him to describe them in great detail etc. After he'd given her the lowdown she asked, "Do you think that would look good on me?"

oh man...that made my day!!! I love it when people say stupid things.

One time, my friends were discussing a drawing of a panda I made and called "Mistah Panda". We got to the sujects of animals that scare us, and I said "polar bears REALLY scare me" and one of my friends said "but isn't Mr.Panda a polar bear?" XDDDD funny stuff!

another time, my sister said "i smell rain. or am i just hearing things

By the way, I learned it:

30 day hath Sptember,
April, June, and November
All the rest have 31,
Except for Febraury, with 28 days clear,
But 29 on leap-year

this one was one of her better efforts

"dont kick a gift horse in the teeth!"

(this is actually patented world wide, but with acknowledgement you can use it Smile)

I think if you say the months using your knuckles, the valleys between the knuckels are the months with 30 days - the knuckles are the ones with 31...except for Feb...not sure how they handle that one.

Well that kinda defeats the object of the exercise no?

thirty days has september
april june and november
all the rest have thirty one
except february
which has twenty eight days clear
and twenty nine on each leap year

That what I learned aged 7. its still true.

@Zephaniah,
You do realize you resuscitated a comatose 2 and a half year old thread to chastise a member who hasn't been around since Mon 1 Feb, 2010 03:05 pm (her last post) right?

@onyxelle,
If the co-workers not so bright, then I beg to ask: Why are you asking the same question? That was not very nice!
