Imagine if you will....

"Howard" and "Monica"* have been married a while, they have a couple of tweenagers, a dog, a house in the suburbs. By all accounts life is good.

One day Howard calls and says he has to work late. He has a great job but this sometimes happens.

Monica and the kids go about their evening when the phone rings.

Monica notes from the caller ID that the call is coming from Howards cell phone. She answers. She hears her husband having sex with some other girl.

It seems that working late actually meant going to a bar, meeting some girl, getting passionately intertwined with her in the backseat of a car and accidentally hitting "redial" on his pocketed cell phone.

Imagine the next 2 to 24 hours will unfold. Write a little story for us all to enjoy.

*Not their real names and certainly not me and Mr. B in disguise.

In real life the wife realizes the kids mean more to her than her cheating husband, then she stays with him for the kids sake and cheats on him behind his back and never says a word about it.

I don't find adultery nice, TTH. I have never experienced it, and since
this is topic was brought up in a writing thread, we all play out the scenario
in different ways. That doesn't mean however, that I make light of
such a situation for people who have been victims of spousal adultery.

Meantime, Howard can't get into his own house. Well, damn it all to hell.

He decides to go get a beer...

(He didn't see the suitcase. Nightblind, y'know.)

Thanks for clarifying your opinion on that CalamityJane. What you wrote just took me by surprise. You didn't seem the type to condone such behavior. I apologize for the misunderstanding on my part.

I have to apologize for this post too. I was picturing in my head when I was in my 20's and I got into an argument with my spouse. It had nothing to do with an affair. We were in the kitchen so I picked up the sink sprayer and soaked him with water. He was then really mad because I kinda made the kitchen all wet (ceiling, walls etc). Montana if you are out there, I am still trying.....

This scenario actually did happen to some people Mr. B knows. He was telling me about it and I wanted to know what happened but Mr. B didn't know. I thought some possible story lines might calm my curiosity.

I think CJane is doing an excellent job imagining how it would all play out.

This might happen among young couples but I don't think revenge sex really happens very often. Temptation is part of human nature but I think anyone whose marriage has been devastated by adultry really doesn't see more adultry as a cure.

After his second time in a bar in one long night, Howard went over to Stan's house and passed out on his sofa. He woke up around noon from the blazing sun in his eyes. Scruffy and bleary, he went back home and saw the suitcase.

Howard pounded on the door while he swore.

He went to the back door.

He tried the windows.

He swore some more.

The guy across the street stared at him. That guy, whatta jerk.

Howard picked up his suitcase and tossed it on the back seat and drove away, giving neighbor the finger.

While figuring out just what to do, he noticed he was nearly out of gas, and proceeded to Chevron, where they had charge cards.
