My email goes to Outlook - Why?

Reply Sat 29 Mar, 2008 03:16 pm
I am trying to find out why - when I attempt to send an email contact from a web page - that the Outlook Box comes on and starts that funny arrow out from the box and then tells me my Comcast.net connection won't let me send it.

I am bascially computer illiterate, so speak slowly . . . please

Email links on the web launch your default mail reader software. In Windows XP, you can change this at:

Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults > Choose Default Email program.

Alternately, there are sometimes browser settings or plugins to handle the mailto: links (if you use webmail like gmail or hotmail you will usually need a browser plugin) the way you want.

be aware if you set outlook express as your default it will change back to outlook each time you recieve an automatic update from windows.

easy enough to reset and nothing is lost but still a pain.
