Single most romantic movie line.

What is in your opinion the single most romantic movie line you can remember?

My choice would be from the movie "City of Angels", with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage.

Quote:
I would rather have had
One breath of her hair,
One kiss from her mouth,
One touch of her hand,
Than eternity without it. One!

This started as a conversation I was having with my gf last night.
My gf said that for her, it was in the Star Wars movie "The empire strikes Back", when Han Solo was being lowered into that pit to freeze him.
When Princess Leia said to him "I love you" and his response was simply "I know".

She has no explanation for it, she just thought that line was sexy.
(Of course, I think she thought Harrison Ford was sexy and thats why she liked that line so much).

What single line makes your list?

Mine might be more sexy than romantic, but here goes. I checked these on the web to see if I remembered them correctly:

From Bull Durham:
"Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days."

One of the sexist scenes without becoming NC17:

The Big Easy (l987):

Anne Osborn (Ellen Barkin): "That's OK. I never did have much luck with sex anyway"
Police Officer Remy (Dennis Quaid}: "Your luck's about to change, cher."

Later that night:
Remy (Dennis Quaid} manages to get Anne Osborn (Ellen Barkin) back to his apartment and onto his bed: "Stop that …" says Barkin as Quaid puts the moves on her, his hands obscured, but she's kneeling forward on the bed. "What, this?… Or this?" he replies. She moans. The phone rings.

The Notebook

"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I'll be seeing you"

(oops ... not a single line - nevermind a? Smile )

Love Actually:

Mark: But for now, let me say - Without hope or agenda - Just because it's Christmas - And at Christmas you tell the truth - To me, you are perfect - And my wasted heart will love you - Until you look like this

Rocky Dennis, from Mask: "These things are good: ice cream and cake, a ride on a harley, seeing monkeys in the trees, the rain on my tongue, and the sun shining on my face. These things are a drag: dust in my hair, holes in my shoes, no money in my pocket, and the sun shining on my face."

He forgot to add, "looking like a helicopter landed upside down on my face" at the end of that sentence. That would have made me cry.

Green Witch nailed it when she wrote:

Anne Osborn (Ellen Barkin): "That's OK. I never did have much luck with sex anyway"
Police Officer Remy (Dennis Quaid}: "Your luck's about to change, cher."

That's the one that immediately comes to my mind. It's made me shiver for 20 years.

It was sexy as hell.

Oh! Er, should we be thinking of "romantic" instead of sexy?

"No one told me there were different kinds of love!
The kind that starts big and slowly wears away,it seems you'll never use it up,and then, one day,it's finished.
Then there is the kind that you do not notice at first, but which adds to itself a little every day.Like an oyster makes a pearl, grain by grain,a jewel from the sand. That is the kind I have come to know."
From Brick Lane.

The Notebook has a hundred, not one liners, some are small conversations....but romantic, none the less.

Quote:
So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday.

and one of my favorite movie moments.....

Quote:

Allie: Do you think our love, can take us away together?
Duke: I think our love can do anything we want it to.
Allie: I love you.
Duke: I love you, Allie.
Allie: Good night.
Duke: Good night. I'll be seeing you.
