I'm looking at a catalog in print, and want to borrow text and pics from it for other documents. I asked the artist if she could give me the pics in jpg, and the rest in any MS format or even RTF (Rich Text Format).

The reason: the Adobe pages average about a half a meg, which is rude, and I know many people hate getting PDF (me) period, let alone in an email. This is what the artist sent me:

Quote:
Hello! I looked through the two programs that are able to open the promo fliers... Adobe Illustrator CS and Adobe Photoshop CS...
These are the options of how I can save the files;
in Illustrator CS;
Adobe Illustrator Document (ai)
Illustrator EPS (EPS)
Illustrator Template (ait)
Adobe PDF
SVG Compressed (svgz)
SVG (svg)

in Photoshop CS;
Photoshop document
Photoshop EPS
Jpeg
Photoshop PDF
Photoshop Raw
SCITEX CT
Tiff

These documents can be edited when used with Adobe CS programs..... without these programs you can not edit type, drawings, or pictures. I know that doesn't really help.....

If anyone knows a solution to convert... or at least reduce the size of these files without making them look really crappy, please help.

Please!

Embarrassed I found the answer myself. Turns out that if you simply choose "save as" in Adobe Reader 8; you can choose RTF, which is all I needed. Next choose the "snap shot" tool (for a crisper image than the screen shot I tried first) -> paste into MS Paint -> Click Save as JPG -> Open in any picture editor and crop out everything but the actual Pic you're looking for. This delivers a reasonably crisp picture, that's still only a few k in size. This procedure reduced a 550 k PDF by about 90% with acceptable quality.

Now I just need to figure out how to make Outlook Express accept a few hundred email addresses at a time, for a broadcast. Confused
