@Dutchy,
To Dutchy and Spendius, please direct me to where there was a rule written about not using those particular letters. The starting page has no such instructions and if it was added later I haven't any idea when it was or where that was placed. I myself don't have any objection to any particular letter being in the new word (the word which becomes the new acronym). Matter of fact, when you look at this, the word ACRONYM, has that pesky Y in it. If we take out the X, Y, and Z, what is next? The double O? The double E? The Q? Where does it end? I like the challenge and it helped me recover my vocabulary usage when I needed the exercises to do so, same as all the word games have.

Tell you what, if the X, Y, and Z are so difficult for you then one of you should start a new thread "Acronyms without x, y or z"

@Sturgis,
X,Y and Z take up 10 pages in my Collins out of 1,250. How does that improve your vocabulary?

@spendius,
Maybe someday if you lose an ability to speak or write it will make sense to you. If I had tried to learn writing again without certain letters my abilities would have been seriously hampered.

The fact is that the letters, X, Y and Z exist in many words and by removing all words with those letters from play you effectively kill this entire thread. We aren't speaking just of words such as Zigzag, Xerox, xylophone, zero, year, yeast, yogurt, and those, there are also eXample, eXercise, penitentiarY, waYward, siXteen, siZZle, amaZed etc. etc.

Just because your dictionary has ony 10 pages with those letters as starters doesn't mean those are the only words existing with the letters.

In words that you like and spendius likes, Dutchy, you've been pipped. Then again, maybe OVERCOOK was too hard for either of you to work with.
