A suggested change to the rules.

If a player feels s/he has a good acronym they are entreated to put it on even if they had been pipped. They should not of course highlight any words as the pipper retains priority.

After all, who would want to miss my last effort just because I had been pipped.

If others feel that the acronym is not good enough to be allowed this privilege they are entitled to boo.

This will encourage better acronyms, and we are all self-improvers I think, because it often happens that a certain train of thought fits in with most of the letters and lacks just one or two. A search often finds the words and that takes time.

SUSPENSION.

A tall coarse plant (Inula helenium) native to central Asia, having rayed yellow flower heads. The roots are used medicinally.

That's elecampanes. Looks like Clary has been on the jollies whilst travelling out east. I's nice to have her back though.

They do vary yes. See my essay on Kinnikinnikinnikkiijknik.

INCHOATE.

I'm not COUNTING Hortense out after that exhibition!

I agree wholeheartedly with the possible exception of the booing. In fact, I feel that we don't compliment or laugh at each other's acros enough. It's very frustrating to spend time and energy perfecting a decent acro only to find out that it's ineligible because someone beat you by a few minutes or even seconds. The game shouldn't be a race. In fact, I believe that the race element often leads to sloppy acros that are ungrammatical and make no sense.

You made a suggestion, Spendi. Normally that would mean that you're looking for feedback. I spent time thinking about your suggestion and replying to to it. And now you're saying that only Clary's opinion counts. I think this is insulting.

There was one more thing I wanted to say about your suggestion. It occurs to me that not all acros that get pipped are there because the player doesn't want to trash a perfectly good acro. Sometimes they're there because the player didn't check before pushing the button. And that's another reason I don't agree with the booing part. Otherwise, I do agree...not that my opinion counts.
