Hmmm, well I guess the words I bolded and italicized kind of led me to believe you were lumping them altogether.
Why didn't He articulate what? Jesus made it very clear about spreading the gospel. Don't cast your pearls before swine..........meaning if they don't want to hear it then shut up about it basically. The Bible also says to dust off your feet if you aren't received when talking the gospel.
Ever read the Beatitudes? I don't see anywhere in there it says to kill anyone do you?
But, of course, anyone can twist scripture. That I cannot and will not deny. However, I don't see where anyone can twist it to mean you can murder anyone and actually believe it, but I do suppose some do.
Well, first of all, the Beatitudes have nothing to do with the topic under discussion. Unless one wants to point out Jesus' instructions on how to communicate with the Father: Go in a closet and do it privately. It is the polar opposite of what evangelists do, of what Jesus commanded his followers to do before he "left"; that is, to go into every country and convert the heathens, whether they want converting or not.
But this is the trouble with the Bible. This is the trouble with Jesus' message. If you want to quote a verse to support your position, I'll quote one that counters it.
Don't cast your pearls...nonsense. Dust off your feet...hogwash. Tell that to your evangelizing friends. They observe no such thing. Nor do you it appears.
My point, which I don't want lost is this. It isn't the messengers, it's the message that is bad. "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." That message is infamous, and it reeks of blood.
