To answer contrex's question... it is obviously because there is data in the rar file that Dj wants to use. Breaking a cipher is often a very useful thing to do.

To answer Dj's question RAR files are encrypted using AES with an 128 bit key. This is quite a secure encryption... unless you have access to a supercomputer, and a deep knowledge of cryptography, you aren't going to crack it.

Your best bet is to try to guess the password.
