so here goes a lil snaps of kerala - palakkad - 'kalpathi theru' which i happened to stumble upon on my visit to Kerala last weekend.it wasnt intentional..but here goes the myth ..and the snaps..

The annual chariot festival at the famous Viswanathaswamy Temple at Kalpathy is held in the month of November. Kalpathy is one of the ancient Brahmin Agraharam (traditional house). Also known as Kalpathy Ratholsavam or Kalpathy Theru festival, the festival is based on Vedic Tamil Brahmin culture which lasts for seven days. On the last three days, a spectacular procession of beautifully decorated three temple chariots (Ratham) of lord Viswanadha swamy and Goddess Parvathy, lord Visweswara and lord Subrahmanya are ceremoniously drawn through the streets by thousands of devotees. The procession is accompanied by caparisoned elephants and percussion. It is believed that pulling the chariots will wash off all the sins for a lot of generations.

Three satellite temples of the Viswanathaswamy Temple in the villages of new Kalpathy, old Kalpathy and Chathapuram also celebrate this festival

@verbivore,
WOW vegemite - fabulous pics. So interesting to hear about your life and culture. Thank you so much for posting them. Very Happy All is coco here - have been with Tulip today and took the children to the Christmas place...... they LOVED it..... trying on silly hats and making hats out of Christmas wreaths. Will post some pics a bit later. They really enjoyed it. Little fella fell asleep on the way home ... and it's only a 15 minute car ride! So now, Christmas has arrived at Chez Izzie (trying very hard to get some momentum here) - little fella has "tinselled" his bedroom - ack... can't abide tinsel - but he's well happy.

We've got all the boxes down from the loft (ugh) ! I would prefer to do this on Christmas Eve.... but... the kids love Christmas... so....

Ha - he's just walked in and said "DONE"... oh my!!!!

Hoping everyone has had a lovely weekend. Back later. xx

@Steve 41oo,
Hi crew, Monday morning here and the start of a new week. Thank you for sharing those interesting photographs with us verbivore, you , like the Captain, seem to have an eye to catch them special moments. Never seen such a big elephant in my life, amazing that one man can control such a huge beast.

The Eagle went for a stroll along the beach yesterday (Sunday) and enjoyed a nice Greek lunch with a good bottle of wine. Temperature still a bit chilly, 22 degrees, but a few hardy ones ventured onto the beach. Had my camera with me so can give you an idea. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Hey BEAgle... so pleased you posted one of the pics - it looks so warm there....ahhhhhhhhhhh.... that would be perfect, it is hail, hail, hail here, but most of the UK has snow!!! Not us - we're far too hot in this part of the country - HA!!!!!!

Anyhoooooo - am chuckling a bit now - have to post the pics of the boys - F-boy is Tulips little one, and of course, the little fella - they had such a lovely time - it's only a shop in a garden centre, but they loved it - touching everything, picking everything up, being kids. So much tut and tack - yukky. Their eyes were alight!!!!!! Very Happy

@Izzie,
oy!

how did I miss posting? I've been in here reading and looking at pix and laughing at stories and smiling at friends and ... oh ... I got so involved in the stories that I forgot to post!

Great pix verby and cap'n. I so enjoyed both sets. Great to see so many of you having good days with family and friends.

Set and I took the dogs down to the beach today. Great romping for me and the dogs, Set romped some, then sat and waited. Miss Cleo did NOT approve of that so she zoomed right back to him when I took her leash off at the little private doggie beach. I was sooooo annoyed with her, I told her that I won't look for her the next time she takes a powder. Naughty dog!
