Unusual Holiday Gifts

Sat 16 Nov, 2002 10:33 pm
Being that I am on virtually everyone's mailing list, I get oodles and oodles of catalogs this time of year. Thumbing through them, I've discovered that there are some pretty strange gifts available. For example, this is a resin cow head to use in your garden so you can 'fool your neighbors' (but only in summer -- it can't be frozen). It costs $100 and there is also a resin moose available for only $149.

Any other ideas for the person who has everything?

Hi Bandylu
I love the cow head, but not for $100. I kind of like some of that off the wall stuff. It makes for interesting conversation :-)

What exactly would you be fooling your neighbors into thinking? That you are part of a Satanic cult that tends to decapitate Holsteins? Shocked

sozobe, I have NO idea (they do suggest in the catalog that you'll convince your neighbors you keep cows -- which in my neck of the woods means you'll get turned in).

gezzy -- it is a bit pricey for a cow head, but then I'm not sure what the going rate would be for them.

quinn -- I wonder if your unusual gift is meant to fool the authorities at those places where alcoholic beverages are taboo (might be a bit hard sneaking it into a football game, though).

Perhaps that your new pets will be informing you of their strange goings on?

A real Palm tree trunk, with artificial top, scanning a full 6 ft is just what everyone would like, isnt it?

Um, wonder what they did with the real top (put it on an artificial bottom?). I'd like two, please.

You know jerry, I actually had a star named after my mother one Christmas. She was an astronomy nut and she absolutely loved it -- got a certificate and a 'map' (or chart, not sure what you call them) showing her where her star was. If she were still around, I might be tempted.

I'm frighteningly tempted by that talking toilet paper roll. Though I don't know who I'd get it for. Maybe the office Kris Kringle exchange?

That's the kind of thing you have to get as a gift; if you bought it for yourself people would think you were really, really strange.
