Anyone know when the last silver 50 cent piece's were minted? Was it 1964?
Also were they 40% or 90%?
Many thanks,

90% silver until 1964, when they changed (1965) to copper-nickel.

They were .900 fine until 1964, and .400 fine until 1968. It was only in 1969 tha they went entirely to alloy. If you have one of these coins, its value will be determined more by the amount of wear (or, rather, the lack of wear) than by the silver content. A silver half dollar has more than 50 cents worth of silver in it, but not that much more, and nobody is going to give you very much money for one of them unless it is in very good condition, preferably uncirculated.
Tnx all!! appreaciate that.
42000+ posts WOW!!
And very few of them are short.
Hey, i resemble that remark ! ! !
Last 90% silver Halves -1964. Last 40% Silver Halves - 1968. There were some 40% silver halves minted since in special Mint produced sets, both proof and uncirculated.
