Hello All I'm new to the whole web design thing so i just started to make some templates for friends and such so i decided to make my own page but don't know where to start .

Here are some templates i built.

That last one is unique!

I'd lose a bit of the extra lines. In the first few I think the three "bubbles" would look better on their own.

Very nice. I suggest you start making them with less graphics though. They look nice, but think about the lilttle guy on his 56k.

Try using a lot of repeating graphics for the side. And stick with one picture to use for the buttons.

Check out how htmlgoodies[dot]com
Then look at their background picture. Something like that is good to use.

I have thought about the little guy on 56k (i used to be him Very Happy ) thats what i was working on hehe. What do you mean by repeating graphics.?

Repeating meaning using the same graphic again.

Your left side would use a background image like this

http://www.mrbobdouglas.com/left_side_nav.gif

Since it is the same for the entire left side, you use it as a background so it "repeats." Getting the same effect as using the loooooong version, you can do the same thing using the same line but one px high.

Reason why the last template isn't speed compliant.

The way you do it is you make a template like that and then slice it up to lessen the load. If I were doing it there would be 18 slices of 1k images.
