Together with a friend I'm starting a Society and have made a website for it. How do I get it onto Google? I know there's something called meta tags but don't know how to apply them or where to put them.
By the way, I made the website through iweb (as I did my personal website) and it took less than 2 hours.
If you can help, thanks
There is pretty much only one thing that makes any difference, what links google finds to the website.
So it needs to be linked to from a page that is already in google, that's all.
I've linked it from my personal website which is in Google so that should help.
One question though, my website isn't linked to anyone as far as I know but it's in Google, so how did that happen?

Easy, you are too busy to memorize every page on the internet and since no search engine accurately reports back links you are understandably unaware of a link to your site. ;-)
I'm so excited. I just put the name of my society on Google (not with quote marks which would make it easier to find) and out of over 2,000,000 entries my website's ..... wait for it ..... THIRD.
I'm not going to break the rules so I can't tell you what it is - but isn't that fab!
Cute site.
I didn't know what a po was either.
Hope you have fun with your new group!
