Will try to keep this short .I am using Comcast as my server .A few days ago i down loaded a free version of McAfee that comcast offered and when i did my out going mail showed it wasnt going out , but showed and error .Well it was going out but also stayed in the out box and never showed in the sent folder .Friends said they were getting 20 emails of the same thing .I then unclicked the scanner for out going emails on Mcafee and all was working ok till some how i got a corrupted file .I did a restore (not destructive ) and since then the email is back doing this again .I ran a Major Geek mcafee removal tool and also ccleaner but its still doing the same thing .I now have called Comcast and he thinks it could be on there end but i thought i would give you guys a try at this . I am running an HP Pavillion 523N ,windows xp ,AMD processor. Arnie

Hmm.

I'm mainly going to bump up your question so that others might see it but I am curious as to whether you received any sort of message that the email was being sent. E. g. usually at the bottom it says something like "sending message 1 of 3". If you're getting that message then the email is being sent and then essentially what you have is what looks like a draft email not automatically moving into the sent folder.

To my mind that's an issue with Outlook rather than Comcast but if they think it's them (and they're willing to work on it), then I'd say to go with Comcast and see if they can help as others may have gotten similar errors.

Oh, and FYI, Comcast isn't your server; it's your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

jespah.yes i blew it on the server ,isp part .The only message i get about being sent is , 0 of 1 tasks has been complete . Im still thinking that there is a part of that Mcafee program still in this computer even though i have run ccleaner after removing the program .Arnie

I bet you're onto something. Can you run the pc in safe mode and do a search for McAfee? Not necessarily remove it that way, just look.

Hmm okay well instead of safe mode you can just do a regular old search and see if you've got any McAfee left. It may miss some things but it's worth a shot in case there really is something out there.

Go to start>search>for files or folders
And then follow the instructions.

It's not a perfect method but it's something. In the meantime, I think going after Comcast is your best bet as they had supplied McAfee in the first place and it appears that the download they provided somehow became corrupted.

First of all there are two likely problems for you:

1 - Outgoing SMTP scanning by your Anti-Virus program. They can screw up all sorts of things since all AV programs are written by retarded people (only slightly kidding).
2 - Many ISPs block outgoing SMTP connections to anything other than their own SMTP servers. Their solution is to use their own SMTP servers (which for comcast is smtp.comcast.net, but check in case they have different localized smtp servers).

Call comcast and ask them if they block smtp connections. If so ask them how to configure your email reader (Outlook).

If not, look into McAfee. But if McAfee is not running (doesn't matter if it's installed) it's probably not the culprit. I'm betting on an smtp configuration.

Additionally, you mention receiving a "corrupt" file. You may mean you received a virus and have bigger problems than mail on your computer.

Start with your ISP support (and re-enter your email account settings) and if that isn't it try getting your computer scanned for viruses (I'd go with Norton over McAfee as the lesser of the evils) and/or other problems.

That will probably help if the problem is not just a configuration issue (which you may still have to solve if it is). Since you mentioned not being computer-savvy I'd like to remind you to think about what programs you want to preserve (since you need install disks or files to restore most) as well as what drivers you need for your computer.

Most computers won't have problems with finding drivers after formating. But some hardware won't have drivers available online so make sure you can find all your drivers (new computers usually come with a drivers disk) or you may end up with a useless sound card or some other hardware.

arnie :

i also have an incompatibility problem with mcafee and windows mail .
i just came across this :

Quote:
This problem may be caused by an incompatible antivirus.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
and Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

I was so glad to see this thread! I have had no problems with my Outlook Express until yesterday when this happened and it is still happening today. I thought maybe the tracks of a CD I was sending out was causing this but I guess not. I use bellsouth.net as my IP. I am going to be watching this thread and hopefully can fix my email problem too!

No I don't have Vista thank God! I had another computer with Vista on it and hated it!

I'm still having the problem sending out emails. It keeps sending the same emails over and over and over again. I ran a scan and cleaned up my hard drive, etc. and it still does it.

I just heard from someone I was sending the tracks to today. She said she got six copies of each email! There were fourteen emails with one zipped track to each email. And my outbox was still full and sending the emails! I finally got them deleted from the Outbox but had a bit of trouble doing it. Crying or Very sad

Trouble with Outlook Express and McAfee
Outlook express would not work after installing McAfee.
I spent some time trying to get this issue solved so when I did I thought it may help someopne else.
Problem
After I installed Mcafee I could open Outlook Express only once after the reboot. After the first opening It would look as though it was opening but would shut down. If I removed McAfee it would work fine. After several correcpondence with McAfee Tech support they sent me a fix. This is what they wrote.

Solution
Implement the new Outlook Express plugin for McAfee AntiSpam:
Option 1 - Automated implementation:
Download and save the new plugin package from http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MSKOEplg32bit.zip
Unzip the package.
Run the AutoInstall.bat from the package.
Restart your computer.
Option 2 - Manual implementation:
Download and save the new plugin package from http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MSKOEplg32bit.zip
Unzip the package.
Follow the instructions listed in the ManualInstructions.txt included in the package.
Restart your computer.

Hope this helps someone

Outlook Express and McAfee Problems
The instruction posted in the last tread fixed the conflict problem but it disabled part of McAgee to do so. In my opinion this is not a fix.
Then after receiving updates from McAfee the problem came back again.
Bottom Line McAfee and Outlook Express will not work together.
Sorry for the misguided information in the previous post. I guess I should have tested it before posting my findings. My Bad.
