New ownership meaning additional partners, or complete new ownership?

Craven--

I trust you enough to allow you to drag me into the 22nd century with a minimum amount of kicking and screaming and loud, vocal despair.

Hold your dominion.

Minimum. Yes. But, some of us will still want to do a little kicking and screaming...just for fun.

Will we still have our Mods?

(And, I know they would be so lost without the added responsibilities in their lives.)

I don't really care, but for holiday reading have a look at Bo Burlingham's Small Giants about entrepeneurs who resisted the pressure to go public.

And give me my sig back. Rusfusbusmussin

New ownership huh?

Are they gonna lock the doors to keep out the riff raff or throw them wide open and let everyone in?

I'm not clear about what you mean about "floating" A2K in the first year.
Can someone explain that, please?

I am funding the company out-of-pocket for the first year or so in order to pay the salaries.

I'm fuzzy about the new ownership. From what you describe, it sounds as if you'll still be the owner--not as an individual, but as a company. Am I right?

Pretty much, it will be owned by the company and its shareholders but I will likely structure the bylaws or share votes in such manner that I do not ever lose creative control over Able2Know (mainly to avoid things like selling the company, as I'm not interested in selling).

One of the biggest areas I'd like to improve is usability (one of my strong points) but it will be different and that might take some getting used to. Additionally, the initial launch won't be as polished as we will eventually make it and will be especially weak in design, which might impact usability.

BTW, in your poker travels, did you ever meet a guy named Pete Fowler? I know he's won at least one tournament.

Doubt it, but I don't follow the names in poker much (either the famous ones or the ones at the tables every day in the casinos) so wouldn't know if I did.

Complete new ownership in legal sense. But effectively it's still me and some talented engineers I'd like to partner with.

At the initial launch we aren't planning much in way of featureset change, so it will be much of the same as here but on a foundation we'll build on.

Eventually, we are going to build a way for the community to moderate itself, but those details are being put off for after the release as it's fairly complex to pull off.

As is the case most of the time people blame/credit me for stuff on this site, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Well my sig hasn't worked for about a year, suspended by a hamster I suspect because it referred to my lack of respect for a hamster's actions in the name of the terms of service. The first post I made after mentioning it in this thread had my sig back. So if wasn't you then you have a very efficient hamster working for you.
