There are many monologues by the lead character, Tevya. You could perhaps find one on line. I looked breifly, and there were many referances to monologues from Fiddler but didn't see any written out. Perhaps a longer search is needed. You may have to buy or check out of library.

Does the monologue have a time/length requirement?

I believe that the soundtrack features a couple of his longer speeches - if you have access to a CD. Perhaps in Tradition or If I Were a Rich Man.

Try getting the Cast album from the show or the movie.

There are monologues I seem to remember at the opening before "Tradition" "Anetevka" and "If I Were a Rich Man"

Here's Tevye's speech just before the song Tradition:

"A fiddler on the roof, sounds crazy. But here, in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof. Trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. It isn't easy. You may ask 'Why do we stay up there if it's so dangerous?' Well, we stay because Anatevka is our home. And how do we keep our balance? That I can tell you in one word: tradition!"

Here's the same speech plus one more sentence at the end:

"A fiddler on the roof, sounds crazy. But here, in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof. Trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. It isn't easy. You may ask 'Why do we stay up there if it's so dangerous?' Well, we stay because Anatevka is our home. And how do we keep our balance? That I can tell you in one word: tradition! Because of our traditions we've kept our balance for many many years. Because of our traditions everyone of us knows who he is and what God expects him to do."
