I have a small hand at writing but I find that my biggest challenge is looking for new words to describe how the character feels, or even just new words in general. I use the thesaurus constantly but the trick is to find the right word I am looking for. I know what I am trying to say but I am looking for new ways to say it. How can I get this practice? The thesaurus and dictionary can only take me so far. Some of the words are NEVER used anymore or no one knows what they mean. I like to write in an older form of language, almost Shakespearian.

If you want to write with Shakespearian diction, read Shakespeare.

...I'm a Theatre Arts major and have been since the 7th grade. I live and breathe Shakespeare everyday. If I wanted to be Shakespeare I would have changed my name. I said I write like him...meaning I like to write rhythmically and where each word has an image attached to it.
