I'm an Abbott and Costello Fan myself.
What does anyone else think? Is It
Laurel and Hardy
Olsen and Johnson
Martin and Lewis

...or Rove and Rumsfeld, and in vaudeville the bad comics get pulled off the stage after the veggies start flying.

W.C. Fields and Mae West appeared in only one movie together -- My Little Chickadee -- and they were in very few scenes together.

Bob and Ray, sadly, appeared in only two movies together. They are great in Cold Turkey (which, unfortunately, has never been released on DVD), and they're in Author, Author! (which I've never seen, so I can't comment on it).

George Burns and Gracie Allen had a long movie career in addition to their work in vaudeville and on radio. Often, they were the only good thing in a movie, like in College Swing and We're Not Dressing.

And let's not forget Clark & McCullough or Wheeler & Woolsey (with the inimitable Edgar Kennedy). What am I saying? How could you forget them? You folks have never even heard of them.

I was going to say Lucy and Ethel. They were funny as hell when Lucy would get them into **** and Ethel would want to kick herself for not knowing any better. Again.

Tommy and Dicky Smothers were a hoot. So were Rowan & Martin back in the day.

Carol Burnett as Eunice and Vickie Lawrence as Mama.

So what?

The original post clearly was seeking the best film comedy teams. As thiefoflight wrote:

Those aren't just a couple of actors who may have happened to be in some movies together. Those are comedy teams that appear together as a team. In contrast, Fields and West were never a comedy team, although they appeared in one movie together. You might as well say that Peter Sellers and George C. Scott were the greatest comedy duo because they appeared together in the greatest comedy, Dr. Strangelove. I wouldn't, but you might.
