Thanks BBB and Rockhead for those links! With all the links within the links it will take me a while to get through all of the information. I'm glad I asked this question well before Christmas!

Thought of you and Mo when I saw this story on Huffington Post. I think Mo will get a thrill out of this video.

Ah, there is an English version. It is way over in the upper right corner of the screen. I had to use the browser slider to move there and find it.

Jello Lynn, it is your Butt Head Brother lol.

Boy can I still remember the trains you speak of. I would crawl underneath all of the tables to get into the open pits where the controls were located. I must say with a hint of pride that I did indeed cause a few train wrecks in my time there.

That sounds like a wonderful idea! For a kid just getting started, it’s usually best to start with a simple, beginner-friendly set that’s expandable. A lot of hobbyists recommend HO scale or N scale, since they’re popular, easy to find and can grow with the collection.

Look for a set that includes a basic engine, a few cars and some track, so Mo can start running trains right away. From there, you can add more track, cars, scenery, and accessories over time. Also, make sure the set is durable and age-appropriate, especially if it will be used by a younger child.

You don’t really need to worry too much about brands at first - just make sure everything in the set works together and is compatible. Over time, you can explore higher-end engines and more detailed models as Mo’s interest grows.
