how do you take XP back in time to solve a problem?(Solved)

I've corrupted a file that took a lot of work and want to take my computer 'back in time' to just before i messed it up.

I can't remember how you do it .... one of the experts ...HELP!!!!!!

Start > All Programs > Acessories > System Tools > System Restore

Then you pick a date on the lil' calendar and let'er rip.

Remember System Restore will restore core Windows system files as well as the Registry.

Restore
But ... system Restore is advertised as not changing data files, so the System Restore may not have the desired results.

Just a thought.

So, if I had deleted a file by mistake, or otherwise screwed up a FILE, it wouldn't do any good to go back for a copy?

You mean like Word documents or photos? No System Restore won't help there. There are a gazillion programs to help you backup personal files (best of which is CD writing software).
