It is not 'religion' which asserts 'itself' in the political arena. Religion is a system of beliefs. A belief cannot take action.
It is people, many of whom hold religious views, that are active politically. Indeed , surveys show that an overwhelming % of the populace holds a religious view of some kind.
Unless someone can show why it should be the case that NOBODY that holds a religious view should be allowed to be politically active, or to seek that their view is represented in the political marketplace, then this discussion seems to be going nowhere.
IF someone would like to champion the position that religious folks SHOULD be censored politically, then maybe this would be an interesting thread for a short time until they slink back under the rock from which they came.
