Quote:
POLICE officers have been hurt while going to the aid of ambulance officers, in two separate incidents on Brisbane's southside last night.

Just before 6:30pm, police were called to help ambulance officers with an overdose patient at Acacia Ridge Caravan Park, in Learoyd Road.

When the officers arrived, the 20-year-old man rushed at them, hitting a male constable in the face.

He was restrained and arrested, and charged with three counts of assault and obstructing police.

The constable was treated in hospital for bruising to his face and jaw.

A few hours later at Slacks Creek, a man being treated by ambulance officers after a car crash allegedly became aggressive towards police, spitting in the face of a female constable.

She now faces a series of disease tests after the spittle landed in her right eye.

A 37-year-old man from Woodridge has been charged with serious assault of a police officer, and obstructing police and will face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

A male constable from Inala is also undergoing tests, after being spat in the face while attending a disturbance in Aquarius Street last night.

The alleged offence occurred as the officer struggled to restrain a man who also tried to choke the constable.

He has also been charged with assault.
