Mame just sent me an email that she cannot access a2k and
has received the following error message:
"Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:
[code=DNS_TIMEOUT] A DNS lookup error occurred because the request timed out during the lookup.
Please contact the administrator."
Mame is wondering if someone can help here.
Thank you!
Such happened (and happens) to quite a few here ... not only to me, I've learnt.
Really Walter? It never happened to me!
Then again, the world is favorable upon us MAC users
Finally, my diabolical plan to keep Mame out of A2K forever has come to fruition! Viva la revolucion!!!
Doesn't sound like a site problem, it sounds like a network problem with her ISP.
Her computer can't resolve the IP address of
www.able2know.org.
She got banned. I knew she was trying to hack the site.
I've seen that occasionally with my dial-up ISP. Sometimes I hang up and dial again, sometimes I can wait it out and try a few minutes later, sometimes I reboot and it works, and sometimes it has nothing to do with me and I have to wait for my ISP to fix whatever is happening on their end.
She had been posting nude pics of herself over in the "Humor" forum. Geesh Mame, get a razor!
Well, Mame moved to the island, so this might be a connection problem
on her side.
She told me, she'll go to a girlfriend's house and try to log-in from there.
ask her to try to pull up cnn.com -- if she can't get cnn to load then it's nothing to do with A2K. DNS (domain name servers) link the name you type in with the IP address of the place you're trying to connect to. If the DNS server for her ISP provider is down then she'll have to wait for them to bring it back online.
She obviously has email capabilities so it isn't her internet connection. Probably something to do with her provider.
Try:
Start > Run
Type cmd and press enter
In the command line window type: ipconfig /flushdns
Thank you, Craven, I emailed her this info.
Hopefully she'll get in now!
Mame just emailed me that she (again) cannot access a2k,
even after she tried Craven's suggestion.
She's using windows and said she doesn't have DOS command bar.
Me, being a MAC user have no clue at all.
Sorry to be a bother.
Make sure she is going to
http://www.able2know.org !!!!
(not .com).
It's okay now... I did change it to .org a couple of weeks ago and most times it was fine, but then it would do this now and then. I just deleted it from my favourites and added it again.
THanks for all your help.
