I want to connect internet on my pc through a modem but I don't know exactly how could I get connected? Please specific what should be required for it and what procedure will be done for it. Thanks a lot?
Is it an internal modem or an external modem? Have you got software for your modem for the operating system that runs on your PC?
it is an internal modem. SO what should i do now?
I'm going to assume that you don't have it installed in your PC yet. You'll have to remove the cover or the side cover, depending on if it's a tower or desktop type case. You have to remove one of the covers on the back next to a PCI slot and plug the modem into the slot. Put the covers back on and power up the PC. It will detect the new hardware. If it's a common modem then your OS may already have included software for it. Otherwise, you'll have to put in a disk. Once the installation is finished, you'll probably have to restart your PC. Once that's done, then your modem is installed. I'm assuming it's a dial-up modem, which means you'll need access to a phone line, and a suitable cable. You'll need an account with an internet service provider (ISP). Many ISP's will provide you with a disc which will take care of the connection for you. Otherwise you'll need a phone number, and if it's a Windows pc, you can run the network setup wizard which will take you through the steps for setting up your connection.
