Script Error Message

I frequently receive the following error message:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

I then have to click on that I want to continue even though there's an error.

What does this message mean? And how can I get it to go away?

It means you are visiting a faulty web page. Nothing you can do.

It happens here when I post a response. Does everyone get this message when they post here?

It sounds like a javascript error. Lots of pages have them. You can turn off the alerting so that they are harmlessly logged and ignored. Most of the time they don't prevent you from doing what you need to do. Most of the time.

How do I turn off the alerting?

Which browser do you use?

If it's IE, and it probably is, go under Internet Options, Advanced, and uncheck "Display a notification about every script error".

That's ok. You said this happens when you're on the web, right? If not then I'm giving you the wrong answer. What do you usually use to browse the web?

Yes, I think so. I don't know much about aol and I don't know what kind of browser it is, so someone else may need to help you with that. Is there a menu option for internet settings or preferences?

Yes, I found the Internet settings and preferences. I looked through it, but I have no idea what's relevant.

Look for something related to notification of scripting errors. If you can find a checkbox that's checked for that, uncheck it.

I couldn't find anything under preferences, but I went to Help and found something. I'm going to have to print out the info because I can't see it while I've got another screen up.

I think this may solve the problem. No idea for sure. I'll do some poking around and see what happens.

Thanks for your help, FreeDuck. Couldn't have gotten this far without you.

As FreeDuck said earlier, it's quite likely to be under "advanced". Did you find an "advanced" option somewhere?

I don't think the error I'm getting is the same as Roberta's. Mine says "...Cannot open (insert link to thread here). Aborted" and followed by a blank page.

It's only happening on A2K when I click a page number other than the first page of a thread. Doesn't happen all the time, maybe half dosen times a day over the past 4-6 days. Also happens on both my home and work computers.

Anyone else getting this one?

Yes, something very similar. (Access denied/"aborted)
